STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Students participate in practical investigations and design challenges that encourage them to ask questions, experiment, create and think critically. Learning is connected to real-world problems and gives students opportunities to work collaboratively and apply their learning in creative ways.

Across Foundation to Year 6, students have opportunities to:

  • Investigate scientific ideas through hands-on experiments and investigations.
  • Design and create solutions to real-world problems using the engineering design process.
  • Explore technology through coding, Lego Spike, micro:bits, 3D printing and digital technologies.
  • Build and test models and prototypes, then make improvements based on what they discover.
  • Develop computational thinking through coding and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate and communicate as they share ideas, explain their thinking and work together to solve problems.
